Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The District Anti-Corruption Committee (DACC) composed of 20 members from different sectors was elected as part of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) initiative to strengthen the fight against corruption in the district.<\/p>\n

Elections were a culmination of a one-day workshop on revival of DACC held in Mokhotlong on Tuesday which was organized by DCEO to bring all on board in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

The committee is made of representatives from community, public and private sectors, civil society, Chiefs, Councilors as well as churches with its chairperson coming from the community.<\/p>\n

In his remarks after the elections, the Chairperson Mr. Lebohang Lengoasa of Tlokoeng said they will work hard and ensure that they fight against all forms of corruption in the district.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, the Chief Public Education Officer Mrs. \u2018Malimpho Moshoeshoe from DCEO said the committee will be trained on corruption related issues to enhance their skills on prevention for the development of the district and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Moshoeshoe urged all to support the committee and join the fight against corruption for the district to develop.<\/p>\n

The Mokhotlong District Administrator Mr. Kepa Keqe urged all to fight against acts of corruption so that Mokhotlong can develop from where it is now.<\/p>\n

He said the committee has been elected at the right time when the development of a huge project that consist of construction of the Polihali dam is being implemented, adding that corruption issues that are alleged to be happening at Polihali and the mines too need to be investigated and addressed.<\/p>\n

DCEO was established 21 years ago, and its core business is to fight corruption and economic offences using public education, prevention and investigation.<\/p>\n
