Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Social Development, Mr. Pitso Lesaoana says, Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) has gone an extra mile in reducing various sorts of crime facing youth through introduction of Youth Development and Rehabilitation Programme.<\/p>\n

He said this when addressing boot campers from serial one to seven during the LDF summit held in Maseru today, Saturday.<\/p>\n

Minister Lesaoana highlighted that improving youth livelihoods remain a critical role facing all if Lesotho is to develop, thus LDF efforts are commendable.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether we have a responsibility to ensure that youth are guided to make wise decisions in future,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

Also Speaking, Information Minister, Ms. Nthati Moorosi said her participation today is to showcase to youth that parents and guardians love their children no matter what, as a result children\u2019s success brings joy to parents.<\/p>\n

She said upon youth lies a major responsibility bestowed to them by God, thus impressing God and parents through good conduct is vital.<\/p>\n

However, the Minister noted that despite challenges facing youth in their families namely: domestic violence, poverty and hunger, youth should know that their future is in their hands, thus should rise beyond challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore challenges are yet to come so for youth to survive, they must be sober and have an intimate relationship with God\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the same note, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Mrs. Ts\u2019epang Ts\u2019ita \u2013 Mosena stated that good attitude attracts positive things, the more reason why youth should do good things to gain rewards.<\/p>\n

In another story, she stipulated that all the bad things youth believe leaders are doing today, youth must team up, aspire to be the change they wish to see in their country.<\/p>\n

\u201cYouth must also be educated about issues of Parliament so that they know its role in society to avoid being misled,\u201d She was stressed.<\/p>\n

Moreover, former Minister and ABC Leader, Mr. Nkaku Kabi strongly called for all possible measures that would ensure expansion of the youth rehabilitation programme so as to cater for the needs of all Basotho youth.<\/p>\n

LDF Commander, Lieutenant General Mojalefa Letsoela said the summit is all about highlighting that the future of this country in different sectors of the society depends on youth.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s interactive summit gave provision for youth to ask questions, share their perceptions on how they wish to reshape Lesotho in future. Amongst others, they urged the government to create a conducive environment for youth to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n

The day was graced with different entertainment that included hip hop and traditional plays to mention a few.<\/p>\n
