Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) received from Nedbank Lesotho M60 000 and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used at the Police Training College<\/p>\n

(PTC). Speaking at the handover ceremony Nedbank Managing Director Nkau Matete explained that<\/p>\n

the bank has over the years appreciated a remarkable fruitful relationship with LMPS and through their support it has been able to provide safe and secure<\/p>\n

financial services. He said the bank cooperates with the police on many security initiatives including the fight against money-laundering and proceeds<\/p>\n

of crime, fraud perpetuated by the local and international crime syndicates, and cyber-security. He added that the partnership and collaboration continue to<\/p>\n

be one of the cornerstones of the stability of the banking and financial services, saying Nedbank Lesotho will continue to support the LMPS through these and other corporate social investment activities.<\/p>\n

He furthered that they saw the need to donate to LMPS having noted the challenges that local police face against the fight of the Covid-19 pandemic, as they put<\/p>\n

their lives at great risk. \u201cWe felt that it is important to contribute in a meaningful way to the well-being of the police, directly to the PTC where young<\/p>\n

police officers begin their career and journey,\u201d said Matete. Deputy Commissioner of Police Paseka Mokete stated that Nedbank Lesotho like other companies is giving back to the nation.<\/p>\n

He expressed his gratitude to Nedbank Lesotho for the donation they made to LMPS on behalf of their well-being, as the nation is faced with Covid-19. Commissioner<\/p>\n

of Police (COMPOL) Holomo Molibeli thanked Nedbank Lesotho for the donations. \u201cPolice services are not only for the bank but the entire Basotho nation, therefore<\/p>\n

this donation benefit all of us,\u201d COMPOL said. Addressing the challenges they have, he mentioned that there is an alarming increase of crime especially car theft.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike Mr Matete has mentioned, we have recently<\/p>\n

received multiple reports of stolen cars. I would like to rebuke the doers of those actions, I urge them to stop,\u201d said Molibeli. He added that plans are in place to overcome these challenges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
