Africa-Press<\/a> – Lesotho<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Looking at how unemployment has impacted the lives of many people in the country, the founders of BAM Group of Companies through its Foundation, \u2018Matlhohonolofatso T\u0161epang T\u0161ita-Mosena<\/p>\n

and Mamashiya Nt\u0161epeng T\u0161ita-Tikiso (under Twin Talk brand) shared tips on how people especially the youth can build their profiles to improve their career prospects.<\/p>\n

Addressing a group of participants in a Zoom meeting, Tikiso said Covid-19 has left many people without jobs and the youth hopeless and feeling like there are no<\/p>\n

opportunities. She added that people need to realize that everyone has a career path and it does not necessarily mean one has to be employed. She emphasized<\/p>\n

that a career path can go in ways, either through being employed being and employer or being a freelance consultant. \u201cPeople feel like when they are not employed<\/p>\n

they do not have potential,\u201d she said. She added it is very important for a person to know their purpose in life because that allows them to build everything around their purpose.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter one has found their purpose in life, they need to set their goals, this is<\/p>\n

where a person starts when building a career path,\u201d she said. Tikiso further said identifying one\u2019s goals has many elements summarized in the word \u201cSMART\u201d.<\/p>\n

SMART goals mean being Specific about what one wants and why they want to achieve that goal, setting Measurable agenda to see if there is progress towards this<\/p>\n

goal or not. They have to be Achievable by not being too high or too low based on one\u2019s resources. The Realistic part meaning what a person does has to be in<\/p>\n

line with their goal. Lastly the T stands for the Time frame within which one wants to have achieved their goal. Tikiso added that as one is working on their smart goals, they need to identify the<\/p>\n

type of skills they are learning or acquiring as a trace to whether they are on the right path. \u201cThose skills may add up to one\u2019s professional profile, leading<\/p>\n

to success in the targeted profession. Building a career path starts first by dedication, from academic work to internship, to volunteering until you have<\/p>\n

your placement under a certain company. This allows one to learn how to overcome challenges and develop an open mindset. For her part, Mosena pointed out that challenges are a given in every goal one<\/p>\n

needs to achiever. What is important is looking at the bigger picture and ensuring that you find ways to deal with those challenges without losing your<\/p>\n

target goal. One of the keys to success in career opportunities is the advent of volunteerism where one should appreciate and take advantage of the brains<\/p>\n

and resources offered by the organization they volunteer in. This will surely contribute a long way when one has to stand on their own to push their venture.<\/p>\n

She added that volunteerism helps one to stop self-doubting themselves that they are not capable of doing something by virtue of being willing to learn.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a very young age, we have learnt that your passion drives your results, meaning when you have a passion<\/p>\n

to venture into a certain industry, then you are going to work on it to the extent that you might excel in it even more than people who studied under such<\/p>\n

profession,\u201d said Mosena. She further said in Lesotho women do not make much use of their online space for networking their professional sectors. She said<\/p>\n

people need to use their online space to communicate with people across the world and they need to present or market themselves well for business purposes.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell Twin Talk clearly expressed the importance of one knowing their future is reliant upon how they perceive themselves. It was clearly expressed<\/p>\n

that everyone has a career path, they just need to implant positive energy and be dedicated to their cause to achieve their goals, which can be done by reviewing what one does between 5pm when they leave formal work to 8am in the morning.
