MASERU-History was made on Tuesday at the Velosolutions Pump Track at Roma Trading Post as the first ever 2018 Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifiers come to the Mountain Kingdom.<\/p>\n

On that day, cyclists from Lesotho and outside the country gathered together to battle for the real championship tickets set for September this year in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The event saw Lesotho\u2019s 16-year old \u2018Makhotso Paamo being the champion in the ladies competition as Cameron Wright from Australia won the males\u2019 category.<\/p>\n

In the females\u2019 category, the second podium and third stand was occupied by Lesotho\u2019s Mahlake Liropo and Fiona Williams respectively. These were the only three women who showed up for the showpiece.<\/p>\n

In the males\u2019 competitions, Lesotho riders did not make it to the podium finals. Therefore the second place was taken Oliver Jones as at the third place stood Dylan Williams. The four stand was left to Brandon De Bruyn.<\/p>\n

The top four men and all the three women from each qualifier will advance to the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Final and the winner of each qualifier will win an expenses-paid trip to the final to battle it out against the best in the world.<\/p>\n

In interview with Informative Sport, Paamo as the first woman in Lesotho to win the all expenses paid trip to Switzerland, expressed all her heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of the event. She further promised that she will get herself fully ready to make Basotho proud during the finals.<\/p>\n

The event was made successful by a joint venture between Lesotho Sky and Velosolutions together with other sponsors such as; Vodacom Lesotho, Alliance Insurance, Supply Chain Solutions Lesotho and Black Mix.<\/p>\n

Christian Schmidt thanked all the sponsors and added that they are hoping to turn the event to be annually. Schmidt was happy with the turn over even though he said they are hoping to have more riders in coming years. On the other hand, Velosolutions founder Claudio Caluori from Australia said they have built Velosolutions pump tracks around the world.<\/p>\n

He said the tracks are social hot spots, where children and adults, beginners, amateurs and pro-athletes, poor and rich, locals and foreigners, black and white, mountain bike riders, bmxers, skate boarders get together to spend their spare time in a very tolerant and positive atmosphere. According to Caluori, Lesotho has a brighter future in this kind of sport, provided the country use the tracks effectively.<\/p>\n
