Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho,s Limkokwing University of Creative Technology this week held a memorial service in honour of the university\u2019s founder Tan Sri Panduka Limkokwing at Victory Hall. The founder passed away on June 1, 2021 in his home country Malaysia. Tan Sri was best known for his passion for Art, Creativity and Innovation<\/p>\n

Principal Secretary John Oliphant said the ministry of education had lost someone who believed so much in changing Basotho children; he gave them a chance to explore their talents and he will forever been celebrated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis man who has brought massive economic contributions to Lesotho through education I think the nation needs to appreciate and be thankful for that. He was indeed a great leader and pioneer of an education system that is based on creativity and Innovation, said LUCT Registrar, Moroka Hoohlo.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the staff members of Lesotho Lintle Hlapisi said since the varsity was set up in 2008 Tan Sri\u2019s vision has created employment opportunities hundreds of Basotho through extraordinary vision and passion.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr Limkokwing brought this university here to make a change that we see today. From 2008 till today we see the results are visible and remarkable and yet there is more to be done.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis university changed the whole ancient structure of the education system in institutions of higher learning, and brought about technology and creativity that we did not know before.<\/p>\n

He provided scholarships for children who performed well to study abroad in countries like Malaysia and others,\u201d said LUCT SRC President Retshelisitsoe Mathebeng.<\/p>\n

In 1991, Tan Sri founded the Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology which became the first private institution to be recognised as a university in 2002 and was renamed the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology as we know it now with students from over 150 countries studying in 12 campuses in Botswana, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lesotho, Malaysia, Swaziland, united Kingdom and Sierra Leona.<\/p>\n

He was the chair of the United Nations Global Compact Malaysia Advisory Board and was awarded the honour of father responsible for innovation and creative education by the Asia Pacific Corporate Social Responsibility Council.<\/p>\n
