Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>There is still no date or clarification as to when the Vodacom Premier League season will resume, even after a meeting on Tuesday between the presidents of the 14 top-flight clubs and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA).<\/p>\n

With the impasse now into its third week, the Premier League Management Committee\u2019s (PLMC) spokesperson, Qamako Mahao, said another meeting with LEFA\u2019s leadership has been planned for next Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Mahao said the PLMC hopes to have a way forward by next week. \u201cAt the moment there is no decision that has been made, we are now waiting for next Tuesday, we have another (meeting) and we will know then,\u201d Mahao told thepost.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, LEFA ordered all football leagues to resume play, even after the PLMC recommended that the 2020\/21 the season be aborted. A-Division clubs, meanwhile, voted in favour of continuing their campaign and the first division is set to restart on November 13.<\/p>\n

The Premier League clubs\u2019 main gripe with resuming is that they have no money to afford the expenses of the season even if supporters are allowed to return to grounds, and some club executives are adamant a resumption of the season will not happen.<\/p>\n

Mahao said the Premier League will not risk anyone\u2019s safety and, if the season does resume, clubs will be asked to submit their vaccination data. On Monday, LEFA released a circular outlining the guidelines to be used in order to comply with the government\u2019s restrictions.<\/p>\n

LEFA said spectators would be allowed to attend club training sessions, provided they are in possession of Covid-19 vaccination certificates. On match days, the match commissioner will order a lockdown of the venue 90 minutes before kick-off and those attending the match are expected to have arrived at the venue by then.<\/p>\n

Amongst other points, double headers will be allowed but they will have to be spaced by at least an hour to allow for proper a transition, based on safety protocols, between matches.<\/p>\n

One of LEFA\u2019s guidelines also allows spectators to keep photos of their vaccination cards and identity on their mobile phones, but they should be visible at check points at the grounds.<\/p>\n
