Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Academic Youth Progress (A. Y. P) organised an entrepreneurship empowerment event on Friday at the National University of Lesotho (NUL). This event was under the theme: \u201cBe the change you want to see.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the event was to empower youth who are already in the business industry and to encourage those who have a dream of starting businesses to \u2018start today because tomorrow never comes.<\/p>\n

\u2019 With the event, A. Y.<\/p>\n

P wanted to remind young people that the down fall of the new era is not the words that go through one\u2019s mind when asked to describe them, and that the one with the right skills and education only is not guaranteed a bright future or a successful life. There is more to that. Speaking at the event, Moipone Sole, president of A. Y.<\/p>\n

P who is also an entrepreneur, said the mission of their organization is to provide career guidance to the youth and make them aware that it is not only by their academic qualifications that they can make it in life, but they should use their brains and find out what they can do best without seeking to be employed.<\/p>\n

\u2018There is a high rate of unemployment in our country, therefore, let us all not rely on the government to create jobs for us, let\u2019s stand up and start our own businesses and defeat poverty,\u2019 said Sole.<\/p>\n

Among the invited entrepreneurs, there was also the co-founder of Les Apparel Brand Moeketsi Kojoana. In his speech, Kojoana told the youth to never listen to negative people who will tell them the market is already saturated.<\/p>\n

He revealed that he has experienced business highs and lows but have managed to stay consistent through it all. On the same event, there was also an organization called Exit foundation, which means, Ex-Inmate Transformation.<\/p>\n

This organization was found by an ex-convict, Moeketsi Scout. He said the aim of the organization is to make sure ex-inmates are socially accepted after serving their sentences.<\/p>\n

They also prevent crime and corruption likely to result from individuals who sort to illegal activities when trying to make a living. Only local producers were invited to this seminar.<\/p>\n

This is because A. Y. P wanted to assure young people that beautiful things do not come from abroad only. \u201cBasotho are also capable of doing big things.\u201d<\/p>\n
