Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President Advocate Salemane Phafane Kings Council (KC) presented an update about LeFA development projects, Federation of International<\/p>\n

Football Associations (FIFA) Covid-19 relief fund and the status of LeFA competitions and international participation. At the press conference that was held at Bambatha T\u0161ita Sports Arena on Tuesday,<\/p>\n

Phafane indicated that LeFA will soon complete 5 of its projects which cost M23 million. He said the projects comprise of the technical center for officials, spectators seating, gym and changing rooms for<\/p>\n

players and installation of artificial turf at Bambatha T\u0161ita Sports Arena and Mohales\u2019Hoek pitch including the revamp of LeFA\u2019s headquarters building.<\/p>\n

Phafane said all the projects are nearing completion even though they would not be completed all at the same time. \u201cOur mother body FIFA who is funding this<\/p>\n

project is more than proud of LeFA together with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA).<\/p>\n

Among many football associations of the world; we are a living example on handling of the projects and infrastructure,\u201d Phafane noted. On the second round of Covid-19 relief fund, he said about M8 million has been<\/p>\n

disbursed to the teams, and M7 million was given to the B and C Division teams. \u201cWe are proud that the huge part of this money goes to the core part of our<\/p>\n

football; this is where it is needed most as those divisions are more vulnerable than others. We are also pleased that most of these teams are now knowledgeable<\/p>\n

on how to make reports and account their books and almost 90 % of them have already complied so that they can receive their money. I also acknowledge the cooperation between us and the National mother bodies, the<\/p>\n

Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) and the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) including the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) and<\/p>\n

Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) for fighting the battle together for supporting their programs and also for their guidance to go back to football safe and<\/p>\n

jointly,\u201d he said. On the international participation of National teams Phafane enlightened that the Lesotho Champions of Women\u2019s Super League Lesotho Defense Force (LDF) Ladies<\/p>\n

Football Club (FC) \u201cSamba Ladies\u201d will be the pioneers in the history of Southern African Development Community (SADC) to participate in the first COSAFA Women\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n

\u201d Our assurance is that even if the emergence of Covid-19 has affected all other teams, LDF Ladies FC was regularly training<\/p>\n

and we also anticipate that as part of the discipline force in Lesotho, they will bring glory at home,\u201d Phafane indicated. He added that Makoanyane XI will be playing COSAFA tournament eSwatini in December<\/p>\n

saying this tournament was historically dominated by Lesotho but unfortunately that trend has changed 3 years back \u201cI am warning the technical division and the<\/p>\n

coach on time to restore the team\u2019s confidence. This notice goes to all the coaches and there will be some consequences if there is no restoration,\u201d LeFA President informed.<\/p>\n

Phafane added that the Lesotho Senior Men National team \u201cLikuena\u201d is going to compete in the COSAFA games on the 3rd to 18th July 2021 in Durban, South Africa (SA) so he is expecting good results.<\/p>\n

He said Likuena\u2019s target is to at least reach COSAFA semi-finals therefore, \u201cLikuena Head Coach Coach Thabo Senong and the technical division are also advised\u201d.<\/p>\n
