Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Football Association President, Adv Salemane Phafane KC said Lesotho football is going places as he promised that \u201cmore is coming\u201d. Phafane said this during the Lesotho national ladies soccer team send-off ceremony ahead of the 2017 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Women Championship Cup to be held in Zimbabwe\u2019s second capital city Bulawayo as from tomorrow to September 24.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was held at Bambatha Ts\u2019ita Sport Arena on Friday last week but the team left the country on Monday morning. Phafane pointed out the association had come a long way with ladies soccer in the country and that he now happy that after more than six years the country is able to send the team to a highly profiled international competition.<\/p>\n

He added that even in the male\u2019s side the country is doing well even though it is not yet up to scratch. Phafane gave an example with Likuena making it to the top 4 and being honoured with fair play award in the 2017 Cosafa Castle cup held in South Africa where they started in the competition in the quarterfinal stage after their impressive ending in last year\u2019s cup.<\/p>\n

All these, Phafane said, are the signs of growth in Lesotho football. Phafane was quick to point out that even though the country is moving step by step towards enjoying its investments in football, there are some unnecessary disappointments that need to be taken into consideration.<\/p>\n

On that point he picked up the recent embarrassment Lesotho endured in the Kenya 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers where Likuena was crushed out by Comoros. Therefore he urged the coach to pull his socks.<\/p>\n

Lesotho is now having a stable women\u2019s league and Phafane said that is a huge achievement and he hailed all the rein holders of the league in making the league successful as he said the league is the source of quality female soccer athletes.<\/p>\n

As one of the ladies soccer founder in the country he disclosed that he is passionate with ladies football. Besides that, Phafane disclosed that the problem with Basotho is that everything is good or perfect when it comes or done by a foreigner.<\/p>\n

Giving Mehalalitoe his last words before they could leave to Zimbabwe, he said they should put in mind that to play a national team goes with lot responsibilities and he praised the ladies for proving to the country that they are the right breed in which Lesotho can invest in.<\/p>\n

Due to the recent performance of Mehalalitoe in international friendly matches, Phafane postulated that they have a firm trust that Lesotho will make it to the top in this championship.<\/p>\n
