Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>As a way of extending service convenience to clients and passengers as they board flights in and out of the country the Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) has launched the Moshoeshoe I International Airport foreign exchange facility at the Airport Forex Kiosk.<\/p>\n

The Airport Forex Kiosk will offer foreign exchange services and trade in all major currencies of the world like US Dollar, the Euro and Pound Sterling.<\/p>\n

This service will be provided to all customers who want foreign exchange, provided that they have the required documentation to these types of transaction.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Officer SLB Mpho Vumbukani indicated that the forex exchange facility is an essential service as the airport is a gateway to Lesotho as international guests are welcomed there.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a leading bank it is always a challenge for us to map the new way forward at all times to bring something fresh and different in our service offerings, and we are excited that the airport forex kiosk became a reality,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

Vumbukani further noted that the forex exchange facility is not only about banking but also about understanding the needs of clients and the requirements needed to make Lesotho\u2019s economy vibrant.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are always thinking of new ways to do banking, we are always observing trends the world over to see what it is that we can adopt within the confines of what we can afford to bring home.<\/p>\n

As market leaders, we want to compete in our own league, not rest in being the number one bank, but constantly raise the bar by being innovative, responsive and continually think ahead of our customers so that we excite them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the forex facility will not only bring the desired addition to elevate the status of the airport but also bring convenience to passengers travelling by air.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis innovative facility is our response to many of our corporate clients who give us the opportunity to bank everyone across the value chain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also added that cash withdrawals services will be provided and in the near future full teller services and cash deposits will be included and that the Foreign Exchange Kiosk has aligned itself with the flight schedule of the airport. Vumbukani also indicated that the forex kiosk came about through the new core banking system that was introduced in March by the bank.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst I acknowledge that there has been challenges here and there since the launch of our new core banking system upgrade, it gives me comfort that the upgrade has given us an opportunity to expand our offering and align our services with the latest in what banking technology has to offer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further added that they are aware of the challenges and have heard the concerns of the customers hence they established a team of professional dedicated to address the concerns.<\/p>\n

He also appealed to customers to engage the bank through its branches and points of representation to afford the bank an opportunity to resolve the issues urgently whilst maintaining the confidentiality required between bank and customer.<\/p>\n

\u201cEngaging through the social media platform defeats the client confidentiality,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Lesego Makgothi said the foreign exchange facility will help Lesotho transform its airport to meet international standards as the Bureau De Change facilities are now a norm at major airports across the world.<\/p>\n

He added that in return for the favour that SLB has done to meet the government halfway, the ministry of Public Works and Transport will take care of the investment and l ensure that the security and upkeep of the facility becomes their priority so that the bank continues to support the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe economy of Lesotho together with the people will benefit a lot from this facility,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Assistant Airport Manager Nomawethu Dlangamandla said the new innovative facility will be of great help to the airport and their clients. \u201cAlmost all the visitors arriving or departing from here want to use this facility,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
