Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of Trade and Industry Tefo Mapesela on Friday left for the World Expo Astana 2017 in Kazakhstan that aims for countries around the world to showcase their renewable energy sources and initiatives, culture and investment opportunities from various sectors.<\/p>\n

Lesotho\u2019s exhibited products at the Expo include energy saving products, artefacts and cosmetics. The expo started on June 10, 2017 and will end on September 10, 2017.<\/p>\n

According to a press statement, Mapesela led a delegation comprising of the Minister of Energy and Meteorology, Mokoto Hloaele, and the Minister of Small Business Development, Cooperatives and Marketing, Chalane Phori and other officials to attend the Lesotho National Day celebration on World Expo Astana 2017, which happened yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoreover, The Minister of Trade and Industry had a meeting with Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce to deliberate on the business opportunities offered by the Kingdom of Lesotho,\u201d says press statement.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hloaele was also expected to hold a press conference at the EXPO center highlighting on what Lesotho has done so far with regard to renewable energy sources, the initiatives and milestones achieved so far by the Government of Lesotho.<\/p>\n

The theme chosen for this year\u2019s Expo is \u2018Future Energy\u2019. The theme is aimed to concentrate on the future of energy, and on innovative and practical energy solutions and their impacts.<\/p>\n

The Expo 2017\u2019s sub-theme is; \u2018Solutions for Tackling Humankind\u2019s Greatest Challenge. \u2019 Therefore, the Expo is expected to showcase future energy solutions tackling social, economic and environmental challenges,<\/p>\n

The press statement further indicates that the objective of the visit serves to utilize the World Expo Astana 2017 as a platform for demonstrating and sharing with the rest of the world what strides Lesotho has taken in optimizing the use of renewable energy sources, as well as ensuring a more inclusive approach to more energy efficient livelihoods; that are aligned with United Nations (UN) Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) which advocates for Energy for All.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of this, the Government of Lesotho has developed Energy policy 2015-2025 which serves as a road map towards attaining access rate of 50% in energy by 2020 as called for by the National Vision 2020.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Energy, Hloaele is a seasoned technocrat in the field of Energy, with an insight into, and a keen interest in the dynamics of the Sector and as such may be regarded as an authority of distinction,\u201d the statement.<\/p>\n

The event is celebrated by countries of the world every three years with different themes. This year\u2019s theme is, \u2018future energy. \u201cThe previous Expo was held in Milano with the theme, \u201cFood and culture.\u201d<\/p>\n
