Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The motion in which the government was urged to adopt a saving mode to mitigate the potential impact of the United States (US) executive orders, has been postponed until it is reviewed based on the manner in which it was written.<\/p>\n

This after the National Assembly engaged in debate regarding this motion, which was moved by a Member of Parliament Ms. Mamello Phooko, who also indicated that failure to address these challenges, with clear commitment could lead to a nationwide social crisis within the health, education, and social development sectors.<\/p>\n

Although Ms Phooko argued that the government should protect the public services, improve the economy, and combat corruption so that it could sustain itself if it encounters similar challenges in future.<\/p>\n

However, the Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Rets\u2019elisitsoe Matlanyane said although she understood some issues written in the motion, she does not support it due to the \u201csaving mode\u201d part of it, as the expenditure should not be reduced instead deploy expenditure switching policies.<\/p>\n

She therefore advised that an update regarding how US executive orders have been mitigated by the government should be presented before the House through a statement.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Speaker Mrs. Ts\u2019epang Mosena therefore ruled that the motion be postponed for review based on the manner in which it was written.<\/p>\n
