Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Qacha\u2019s Nek Principal Chief Mojela Makotoko Theko Makhaola publicly introduced Chief Lerotholi Makhaola of Matebeng, Ha Lelingoana as the new Town Chief at Melele ground despite widespread resistance from residents.<\/p>\n

This introduction follows the April 2025 dismissal of former Town Chief Nkuebe Makhaola, a decision that sparked local outrage and led to Chieftainess \u2019Mamothalali Sehahle of Letlapeng being appointed in an interim capacity.<\/p>\n

Addressing the crowd on Wednesday, the Principal Chief reiterated his authority to appoint whoever he deems fit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy that you brought me here and I will take this opportunity to introduce the new chief,\u201d he said, moments after the public had expressed they did not want him.<\/p>\n
