{"id":61169,"date":"2025-09-03T21:05:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T21:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/government-succumbed-to-pressure"},"modified":"2025-09-03T21:41:31","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T21:41:31","slug":"government-succumbed-to-pressure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/government-succumbed-to-pressure","title":{"rendered":"GOVERNMENT SUCCUMBED TO PRESSURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The wife of the late Maaparankoe Mahao, \u2018Mamphanya Mahao says the Government of Lesotho succumbed to pressure when they established the Phumaphi Commission of Inquiry in order to facilitate private investigations into the death of her husband.<\/p>\n<p>This she said during cross-examination by Advocate Letuka Molati in a case in which nine members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) including Retired Army Commander Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli are charged with the murder of the deceased.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that there was pressure from the Mahao Family which was assisted by the international community, local civic organisations and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
