Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Following its initiative to remove young and vulnerable children from the streets in December last year, Masianokeng Sports Academy has widened its capacity to accommodate more youth under various<\/p>\n

sporting codes. The academy had brought youth together in an effort to keep them from using drugs and encourage their engagement in sports. Masianokeng Sports Academy Founder, President and the elite<\/p>\n

coach Tlokotsi Ndlovu announced that the membership is open to all youth across the country, not only Masianokeng natives. \u201cThe purpose of the academy is to<\/p>\n

discover the players\u2019 talents in sports at different stages and ensures that the players grab other teams\u2019 attention to pursue their sports careers in<\/p>\n

future,\u201d he noted. Ndlovu added that the academy also aims to find supplementary education for players to further their studies as most members are in their<\/p>\n

schooling age. He said the academy has registered with the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) and was established in March 2020, starting with ladies and men football.<\/p>\n

He emphasized on their determination to broaden to other remaining sports codes to expand the academy. \u201cThe players are picked from the age of 4 to 17 years for men in order to build the academy\u2019s<\/p>\n

development football team, while on the women\u2019s side there is no specific age preference. We want to shape our players such that they qualify to play for all<\/p>\n

Lesotho national teams, even overseas,\u201d he explained. Ndlovu said the academy has been sponsored by the TM2 Construction and Civil since December 2020 and it provided<\/p>\n

2 jerseys aimed for away and home games, noting that they are looking for more<\/p>\n

sponsors. \u201cThe academy has under 10 to under 17 teams on both genders and we will soon compete for under 17 leagues. We host training sessions on week days<\/p>\n

and weekends and the players are open to register with the academy free of charge for now,\u201d he stated. Ndlovu is a holder of level one course, women coaching course by LeFA and level one Scottish Football<\/p>\n

Association (FA) Certificates. He revealed that within the country he coached several teams including Lerotholi Polytechnic Ladies Football Club (FC),<\/p>\n

Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) FC and Basetsana United FC. \u201cThe academy did not take part in any identified competition in the country except for the<\/p>\n

friendly matches as it is newly found, however at present I am working hard on creating opportunities for the academy\u2019s management to gain competence as it also has not engaged in any sports related courses. Masianokeng Sports Academy is based at Setleketseng.<\/p>\n
