Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Nigeria\u2019s senior women\u2019s basketball team, D\u2019Tigress<\/b>, have learned their opponents in the final qualifying phase for the FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup 2026<\/b>, as the draw was conducted on Monday, October 7, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Tigress will compete in Lyon-Villeurbanne, France<\/b>, one of the four host cities for the global qualifiers scheduled to hold from March 11 to 17, 2026<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian ladies have been drawn alongside France, Germany, Korea, Colombia, and the Philippines<\/b> in what promises to be a fiercely competitive group.<\/p>\n

The tournament will serve as the last hurdle on the Road to Berlin, where 16 nations will battle for the prestigious FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup trophy<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Germany\u2019s Marie Guelich and former French captain Endy Miyem conducted the draw, which also had FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and officials from the participating national federations in attendance.<\/p>\n

Other host cities for the qualifiers include Wuhan (China)<\/b>, San Juan (Puerto Rico)<\/b>, and Istanbul (Tu\u0308rkiye)<\/b>.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Tigress, four-time African champions, will be aiming to make another strong statement on the world stage as they chase a ticket to Berlin 2026<\/b>, where the best women\u2019s basketball teams will compete for global glory.<\/p>\n

The results of the draw were as follows:<\/p>\n

Wuhan, China<\/b><\/p>\n

Mali, South Sudan, Brazil, Belgium, Czechia and China.<\/p>\n

Lyon-Villeurbanne, France<\/b><\/p>\n
