{"id":63494,"date":"2025-10-27T19:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T19:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/lesotho-strengthens-health-security-with-evaluation"},"modified":"2025-10-27T20:14:58","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T20:14:58","slug":"lesotho-strengthens-health-security-with-evaluation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/lesotho-strengthens-health-security-with-evaluation","title":{"rendered":"Lesotho Strengthens Health Security With Evaluation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the Pandemic Fund and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (AFRICA CDC) held the second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) in Maseru on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering remarks on behalf of the Minister of Health, Deputy Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Mats\u2019oanelo Monyobi said the event demonstrates Lesotho\u2019s strong commitment to strengthening national health security and improving the country\u2019s preparedness and response to public health threats.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Monyobi mentioned that JEE is a vital process under the international Health Regulations (IHR) monitoring and evaluating framework that provides an evidence -based assessment of a country\u2019s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to health emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>She said it also encourages collaboration between national and international experts to foster transparency, mutual accountability and shared progress.<\/p>\n<p>She emphasized that Lesotho first undertook the exercise in 2017 which proved instrumental in identifying the country\u2019s public health strengths and areas needing improvement.
