Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has partnered with a locally owned chain stores, Enrich through a point of sale integration on its mobile money platform, EcoCash.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by two the companies this week at a joint launch of their collaboration and introduction of this ground breaking system integration between a telecommunication giant and a chain stores owned by more than one<\/p>\n

thousand shareholders. In a press statement ETL stated that the innovation serves as another platform that will offer convenience to customers. \u201cThis simply allows customers to pay<\/p>\n

for groceries effortlessly from their EcoCash wallets into Enrich\u2019s merchant account. Addressing the media at the launch Econet Sales and Distribution Manager \u2018Matikoe Letsie<\/p>\n

said that the two companies combined their systems to ensure a seamless and effortless shopping experience. She mentioned that no card is needed to swipe<\/p>\n

at all at the till and definitely no additional point of sales (POS) device that crowds the till because everything is initiated on the till itself. She<\/p>\n

added that there is a communication between a customer\u2019s phone and Enrich\u2019s check-out device. \u201cWe do not call EcoCash \u2018Sepache-fono\u2019 for nothing; a phone indeed becomes a wallet,\u201d said Letsie.<\/p>\n

She further said this is the first seamless payment deal made with supermarkets and they are proud that a locally owned store like Enrich is pioneering the initiative.<\/p>\n

Letsie highlighted that Econet intends to partner with various shops in the same manner to offer convenience, increase security by reducing cash handling<\/p>\n

and fraud at the shops. Enrich Stores Director Maine Maine said they (Enrich) are excited that they are the pioneers of the innovation that will not only serve their customers but will<\/p>\n

also save the store from dealing with lots of cash on a daily basis. He highlighted that they were approached by Letsie a few months ago with the integration idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are currently working very hard to ensure that we transform into a cashless society,\u201d he said. Maine<\/p>\n

further said this is a way to limit theft that can happen to customers who carry along cash with themselves or to limit robbery that can occur in the supermarkets or any business.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201cThis assimilation of the systems gives us peace<\/p>\n

of mind because cash collected on a daily basis is not exposed to robbery but goes directly into the merchant account,\u201d\u201d He said the integration provides customers<\/p>\n

with flexibility to pay with cash, bank or EcoCash which is something he describes as game changing. He noted that Enrich Stores offers a complete set of EcoCash services where customers can also deposit and withdrew money from in store agent.<\/p>\n
