{"id":63914,"date":"2025-11-06T18:04:59","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T18:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/airlink-operations-to-resume"},"modified":"2025-11-06T18:37:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T18:37:47","slug":"airlink-operations-to-resume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/airlink-operations-to-resume","title":{"rendered":"AIRLINK OPERATIONS TO RESUME"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Following halting of operations by South Africa based airfare, Airlink on Wednesday from Johannesburg to Moshoeshoe I International Airport, the services will resume on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after the Ministry of Public Works on Thursday informed Airlink Management that the situation has been rectified and the required Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) category has been restored to safe operational levels.<\/p>\n<p>The services were suspended due to safety issues citing lack of serviceable fire and rescue equipment at Moshoeshoe I International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>According to the letter written to Airlink which the Agency has, the ministry has indicated that firefighting resources are available and fully serviceable which include Scania 6\u00d76 Fire Tender: 8,000 litres capacity (Airport-owned, declared operational), Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Fire Tender \u2013 4\u00d74: 4,500 litres capacity (deployed under official support arrangement) while the Airport\u2019s 12,000 litres 6\u00d76 Fire Tender remains under advanced repair and will rejoin service shortly, further enhancing capacity and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the letter highlighted that Moshoeshoe I International currently meets the minimum operational requirements and can safely accommodate Airlink\u2019s scheduled aircraft operations, thus all safety measures and fire standards are now in place.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Airlink has now issued a statement that the daily flights between Johannesburg and Maseru will resume on Friday.
