Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) Lesotho has launched the scholarship program from which 40 awards have already been distributed.<\/p>\n

The launch was in honor and memory of the late university president, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Sri Paduka Dr Lim kok wing. Speaking at the ceremony<\/p>\n

LUCT Campus and Administration Director Tefo Macheli indicated that the university awarded scholarships at different academic levels to students from different backgrounds as a way to give back to the community and to execute the<\/p>\n

mandate of the Heal the World Foundation. He said the initiative that was established by the founder of the university to better the lives of the under<\/p>\n

privileged shall be annually commemorated going forward. \u201cThe 40 scholarships will be handed over to the Ministry of Social Development which will be awarded to Basotho youth in the two categories being Limkokwing<\/p>\n

Frontline & Healthcare Scholarships. These are the Covid-19 frontline healthcare workers\u2019 children and underprivileged and orphaned children. All this scholarships are awarded<\/p>\n

in remembrance of the Founding President as a philanthropist under The Heal the World Foundation. In commemorating his life, scholarships are awarded to children of frontlines across campuses in Asia, Africa and Europe \u2013<\/p>\n

to show appreciation for their unwavering dedication in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic risking their lives for ours daily,\u201d Macheli explained.<\/p>\n

He further explained that Heal the World Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by the president to curate initiatives by the university to support the less privileged through<\/p>\n

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with the aim of alleviating poverty which is basically contributing positively to the society. He furthered that the selected<\/p>\n

students will be fully sponsored for the tenure of their academic duration where students are selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development.<\/p>\n

He added this is planned to be an annual event commemorated around the time of Lim Kok Wing\u2019s birthday. According to Macheli, the president was a great believer of philanthropy and he lived his life to reflect<\/p>\n

this ideology. \u201cIt is therefore through this event that we as the University are hosting this event curated under The Heal the World Foundation as an extension of his immaculate practice to<\/p>\n

live beyond his life. LUCT wishes to see more Basotho youth expand the horizons of their academic journey to boost the human capital of Lesotho and thus<\/p>\n

awarding these scholarships to the less privileged during these difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic,\u201d Macheli informed. The two Alumni-Beneficiaries of the scholarships; T\u0161eliso Mojela and Halieo Motanyane expressed<\/p>\n

their gratitude to the university and delivered words of inspiration and expression of gratitude, both sharing their journeys and how they benefited from this scholarship.<\/p>\n

The acting Minister of Social Development Hon. Keketso Sello said that through the Heal the World Foundation, LUCT launches Founders Scholarship Program, he said this is the beginning of a new relationship that will benefit both the ministry and the vulnerable children who are the beneficiaries in his ministry.<\/p>\n
