Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Women In News 2024 results confirm women only make 10 percent of business leaders in the countries it accessed.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by Media Parity Facilitator, Ms. Pamela Dube when addressing Botswana and Lesotho journalists at the five-day workshop held at Gaborone in Botswana on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

She said 9 percent of women in Africa are holding business leadership positions while 33 percent of women are holding Editorial leadership.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she stated that 7 percent of women in business leadership is evident within the Arab region and 22 percent highly marked for editorial leadership.<\/p>\n

Talking about Southeast Asia, she said 16 percent of women hold business leadership while 36 percent are holding editorial leadership positions.<\/p>\n

The facilitator said women should focus on their development and straight forward career path and leverage an opportunity to build influence.<\/p>\n

Referring to the use of visibility and advocacy, Ms. Dube said women leaders in media must often take up space, be visible in leadership roles and advocate for systematic change.<\/p>\n

Echoing the same sentiments, the CEO BAM Group of Companies Mrs. Nts\u2019epeng Ts\u2019ita Tikiso urged the women journalists to do their work to the best of their ability.<\/p>\n

In addition, she said though employed, to achieve their best and adhere to a successful journey in journalism they should imagine the platforms being theirs, whereby they work hard and excellently.<\/p>\n

She said they should navigate and engage in different roles within the organisations as another way of improving their capabilities.<\/p>\n

The workshop highlighted that barriers to women advancement in media leadership include gender bias, work life balance constraints and limited access to professional networks.<\/p>\n
