Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>As Lesotho joins the global community in observing World Children\u2019s Day, the Qacha\u2019sNek Police Station Child and Gender Protection Unit (CGPU) is urging parents and guardians to nurture children with love, education, and attention.<\/p>\n

Detective Sub Inspector (D\/Sub-Insp) \u2019Maphutheho Mongali emphasized that children need care and time with their families to grow into empathetic and well-rounded individuals.<\/p>\n

The 2025 theme, \u201cMy Day, My Rights,\u201d highlights the importance of recognizing children as active participants in decisions that affect them.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s eliminate distractions such as cell phones and television, spend quality time with our children, and truly get to know them,\u201d D\/Sub-Insp Mongali said in an interview on Thursday. \u201cWhen we listen and involve them, children are more likely to open up and understand decisions made in their best interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

She noted that key challenges facing Qacha\u2019sNek children include parental negligence, with some families left in the care of children due to work obligations, and cultural practices that prioritize herding over education.<\/p>\n
