Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Twelve match officials from the CECAFA Zone have been selected to officiate at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.<\/p>\n

The tournament will take place from December 21st to January 18th, 2026 in Morocco. Fresh from being voted best referees in Africa, Omar Abdulkadir Artan (Somalia) and Shamirah Nabadda (Uganda) are among the referees selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for Africa\u2019s biggest football competition.<\/p>\n

The African body has selected 73 officials comprising 28 referees, 31 assistant referees, and 14 VAR officials. While Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda and Djibouti each have one official selected, Kenya dominates the list with Peter Kamaku Waweru as a referee, Dickens Mimisa as a Video Match Officer, and the duo of Gilbert Cheruiyot Kipkoech and Yiembe Stephen Eleazar Onyango as assistant referees.<\/p>\n

Twenty four teams including CECAFA representatives Uganda, Tanzania and Sudan will feature in the AFCON 2025.<\/p>\n
