Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong> <\/span>The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) commemorated International Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday in Maseru under the theme \u2018Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow\u2019s Integrity\u2019.<\/p>\n

Officially opening the event, Deputy Prime Minister Mrs. Nthomeng Majara said the day is important as it reminds the country of the progress made and the work that still needs to be done in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

She said the theme focuses on young people, adding that the future of Lesotho lies in their hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this International Anti-Corruption Day, the Government of Lesotho renews its commitment to promoting integrity, strengthening institutions that support the DCEO and investing in young people as leaders of tomorrow,\u201d said Mrs. Majara.<\/p>\n

She also said corruption can be reduced if people refuse to give or accept bribes, adding that this will help create equal opportunities and ensure development benefits for everyone.<\/p>\n

DCEO Director General Advocate Brigadier Mants\u030co Sello said International Anti-Corruption Day is observed every year on December 9.<\/p>\n

He explained that this year\u2019s celebrations focused on engaging young people from different sectors across the country.<\/p>\n

Advocate Sello said young people are the backbone of the nation and should take a stand against corruption by refusing bribery and acting with integrity.<\/p>\n

He concluded by saying the fight against corruption is a shared responsibility and requires all citizens to work together.<\/p>\n
