{"id":65387,"date":"2025-12-17T21:10:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T21:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/court-favours-fired-rsl-boss"},"modified":"2025-12-17T22:01:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T22:01:17","slug":"court-favours-fired-rsl-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/lesotho\/all-news\/court-favours-fired-rsl-boss","title":{"rendered":"COURT FAVOURS FIRED RSL BOSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho. <\/strong> <\/span>The Labour Court of Lesotho on Wednesday ruled in favour of fired Revenue Service Lesotho (RSL) boss Mrs. \u2018Mathabo Mokoko by finding the company Board in contempt of previous order thus sentencing them to 30 days\u2019 imprisonment, which has been suspended on strict conditions.<\/p>\n<p>RSL Board had on November 07 terminated Mrs. Mokoko\u2019s contract with immediate effect and appointed Mr. Rakokoana Makoa as Acting Commissioner General.<\/p>\n<p>The court has ordered that Mrs. Mokoko be reinstated into her position pending finalization of this matter and that the respondents pay costs of this application on ordinary scale.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the same court had ordered that the respondents (RSL and Board) in the matter be restrained and interdicted from dismissing, threatening to dismiss pending the outcome of this application.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the respondents may not dismiss the applicant without following the due process of a disciplinary hearing required by the contract of employment in terms of clauses 12 and 13 (c) of annexure MM1.<\/p>\n<p>It also directed respondents to pay costs of this application, adding that a notice be given to the respondents to come and show cause why both the interim and the final orders in paragraph 63 (a) to (e) shall not be granted.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in October, Mrs. Mokoko had sought refuge in parliament, accusing the Minister of Finance, Dr. Rets\u030celisitsoe Matlanyane, of political interference in the RSL\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Mokoko\u2019s three year contract is supposed to expire in August 2026, she was appointed on August 02, 2023, as the first woman Commissioner General of RSL succeeding Mr. Thabo Khasipe.<\/p>\n<p>The repsondents in the matter from 1st to 9th are Revenue Service Lesotho Board, Lindiwe Sephomolo, Ts\u2019ireletso Mojela, Lerato Lerato, Rebecca Ralebakeng, Morongoenyane Nyakane, \u2018Mamonaheng Koenane, Libako Lesisanyane and Revenue Service Lesotho (PTY)LTD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Lesotho<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Lesotho.
