Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Friday saw the 15th joined graduation ceremony of the Institute of Development Management (IDM) 2021 graduates at the IDM Lesotho campus in Maseru. IDM<\/p>\n

Principal Consultant T\u0161o Sechaba said the institute offers training in three departments which are Human Resource and Organizational Development, Public Health and Business Information Management.<\/p>\n

He said they want to focus more on the training of students who are first-timers, while not disregarding those who have been to school and still want to pursue their<\/p>\n

studies. \u201cThis year, 90 graduates were awarded certificates which match with their different courses of study, those were Diploma in Accounting and Business studies,<\/p>\n

Diploma in Human Resource Management, Diploma in community Development, Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and Diploma in Procurement and Supply<\/p>\n

Management. They deserve them; this year has not been easy due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Lockdown was the major problem as other students had no equipments to<\/p>\n

learn. We had to resort to online platforms as they were the only solutions to learning,\u201d he reflected. The theme for this year\u2019s celebration was; \u201cBe<\/p>\n

Bold, Be Courageous and Be your Best\u201d. Reacting to the connotation of the theme, Sechaba sent best wishes to the graduates and urged them to bravely embark on a new journey, he said the pandemic has forced them to grow thicker<\/p>\n

skin. IDM lecturer from the department of Human Resource Management Morena Mokhathi mentioned that it had not been a smooth journey. \u201cWith the challenges that were<\/p>\n

imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to switch to online teaching, where many challenge were anticipated. It is well known that our students are not<\/p>\n

sponsored by NMDS [National Manpower Development Secretariat] but are self-sponsored, they had to cater for extra costs to buy data, also some of them were from remote areas so they had trouble with network and that slowed<\/p>\n

their learning, to overcome the challenges we had to extend time to our teaching,\u201d he noted. On behalf of the graduates, a Diploma in Human Resource Management graduate Palesa<\/p>\n

Holomo mentioned that when she came to pursue her studies at IDM as a former Lerotholi Polytechnic student, her aim was to develop herself emotionally,<\/p>\n

physically and academically. She mentioned that during the process when the institute was shaping her she has proudly acquired leadership skills. IDM has been training first-time students in college and those pursuing their studies since 2012.<\/p>\n
