Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho\u2019s high profile health services provider, Queen \u2018Mamohato Memorial Hospital (QMMH) commemorated 10 years of existence last Friday. The celebration was marked by a prayer session and was honoured by the presence of staff<\/p>\n

members and government officials. The hospital was opened in October 1st 2011. Speaking on behalf of the current management, QMMH Managing Director Dr.<\/p>\n

Norbert Chale Moji expressed gratefulness over the opportunity to run the hospital. He added that when the hospital started its operation years back, it was quite challenging<\/p>\n

for them since it was under the leadership of a foreign company called Netcare. \u201cThe hospital was opened in October 1st 2011, therefore this celebration is a great milestone.<\/p>\n

I would like to thank the staff for their commitment despite the challenging circumstances along this journey,\u201d he said. Moji further thanked the government of Lesotho for fighting for the hospital<\/p>\n

and commended their victory over the case. Ministry of Health (MoH) Director General Dr. \u2018Nyane Letsie said the hospital is the national health services provider and one of the hospital\u2019s goals has always been to<\/p>\n

provide quality health services, to have nurses professional trainings and contribute in health researches. Letsie added that this hospital is committed to offer the<\/p>\n

best services in the country. \u201cThe hospital has been examined by foreign health organizations and they gave a positive feedback, which encouraged us to work<\/p>\n

harder regardless of shortage of equipment,\u201d she said. Minister of Health Hon. Semano Sekatle said acquiring full control over QMMH is the second big decision that the government of Lesotho has made after taking over<\/p>\n

the National University of Lesotho (NUL) back in 1975. He continued to say that the hospital together with the three clinics, Mabote, Qoaling and Likotsi<\/p>\n

Filter Clinic are now in the hands of Basotho. Sekatle further said the hospital is also run by highly qualified professionals. For his part, the Prime Minister (PM) Dr.<\/p>\n

Moeketsi Majoro noted that QMMH was initially established as a backup for Queen Elizabeth Hospital which was then seeing alarming shortage of resources and a high reception of critical patients.<\/p>\n

Majoro further said when the hospital was opened back in 2011, the overall costs were over M300 million while at first the government budgeted M150 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough there were challenges here and there, the hospital managed to offer the best health services to Basotho and we hope that the quality of services stays the same or rather improves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
