Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Table Tennis Association (LeTTA) top players represented the country in the Bloemfontein Open Tournament that was hosted by Free State Table Tennis Federation in South Africa (SA) under the<\/p>\n

South African Table Tennis board over the weekend. The purpose of this tournament was to activate and raise the players\u2019 competition spirit for international standards<\/p>\n

and to present an opportunity for them to advance their profiles in the continental African Table Tennis Federation. Another aspiration was that Lesotho<\/p>\n

National Olympics Committee (LNOC) will then review the players\u2019 profiles to book their seats at the Commonwealth Games or have them represent the country<\/p>\n

at the international level competitions for their active national exposure. As further revealed by LeTTA Vice Secretary General Kamohelo Seaka on Monday in an exclusive interview with Informative<\/p>\n

Sport, this competition is an annual tournament and LeTTA started participating in it from 2019. \u201cAfrican Table Tennis Federation invited all African countries<\/p>\n

to take part in this tournament, to improve their players\u2019 profiles and assess their performance,\u201d Seaka noted. He further said LeTTA was represented by four players who competed against countries such as Botswana and Eswatini.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the players who occupied position one and two respectively in the national<\/p>\n

rankings from the previous preliminary winter open tournament that was held at Khubetsoana in August this year,\u201d Seaka said. He mentioned that in the ladies category,<\/p>\n

Lesotho was represented by Thato Mathibeli and Reaboka Bofelo from Thamae Table Tennis while in the gentlemen were twin brothers Khethang and Likhetho Mothibe.<\/p>\n

He said among these, two players secured position two; Reaboka Bofelo and Likhetho Mothibe. Seaka added that LeTTA delegation to Bloemfontein was made up of four players, Coach Oupa Rasemeri and the Physical<\/p>\n

Trainer Moliehi Matsepe through the help of the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC). Seaka explained that all players were knocked out in the group stages but in terms of performance, their games were<\/p>\n

good. He, however noted that their bets are not in good condition. \u201cGoing forward I think we shall have to conduct intense training and our National Executive Committee (NEC) has to see to it that they buy bets of good quality<\/p>\n

because things keep on improving. The association is in preparations to host camps and tournaments for the players to commence trainings so that they improve<\/p>\n

their skills,\u201d he said. LeTTA promotes and develops table tennis in Lesotho. It has competed in the National Championships in several parts of SA, taken part in Botswana Table Tennis Championship and Table Tennis Senior Championships in Senegal and Mauritius in recent years.<\/p>\n
