Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>As a continuing support in the fight against Covid-19, Let\u0161eng Diamonds donated a fully equipped Toyota 4 WD ambulance worth M1, 082,577 to the Ministry of Health (MoH).<\/p>\n

The hand over was officiated today by Let\u0161eng Diamonds Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kelebone Leisanyane. \u201cI am privileged and humbled to address this<\/p>\n

important ceremony of handing over of this full equipped and modern ambulance to the Ministry of Health,\u201d Leisanyane said, addressing the media. He said this<\/p>\n

donation will help in improving patients\u2019 transportation and therefore ease the work during the Covid-19 crises. He further expressed his gratitude to the MoH<\/p>\n

for openly receiving this gift, saying it fulfills them to lend a helping hand. \u201cOn behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and the staff of Let\u0161eng Diamonds, let me convey<\/p>\n

our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Health for allowing us to make this donation. This donation will go a long way in contributing towards improving<\/p>\n

patient transportation in light of the overwhelming challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the latest Omicron variant in particular. This donation is<\/p>\n

one of the voluminous gifts that have been given by the mine in the years 2020 and 2021. Other donations include spending a tune of M975, 000 on community<\/p>\n

COVID-19 interventions, M252, 000 on a modular structure donated to National Reference Laboratories. Minister of Health Hon. Semano Sekatle said the Ministry is truly grateful for the precious gift.<\/p>\n

Sekatle said the ambulance comes at a very crucial time when Covid-19 continues to escalate. He explained that although the gift will be of great help, the Ministry does have shortage<\/p>\n

and more donations would meet them half way. Sekatle said it will aid more in the remote areas, which he said have been left out. Let\u0161eng Diamond, found in the landlocked Southern African kingdom of Lesotho, is owned by Gem Diamonds, Ltd. and the government of Lesotho. At an elevation of 3,100\u2009m (10,000\u2009ft) it is the world\u2019s highest diamond mine. It was founded in 1995.<\/p>\n
