Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) through its Higher Life Foundation initiative has on Tuesday donated food parcels worth M10 000 to Ministry of Hope Orphanage Home at Katlehong.<\/p>\n

ETL Public Relations Officer (PRO) Puleng Masoabi explained that ETL has done charity work for a couple of years now, reaching to different orphanage homes across the country.<\/p>\n

She said they give-out donations almost every month through the Higher Life Foundation which was founded to assist vulnerable children in the country.<\/p>\n

Masoabi said in December each year, during festive holidays, ETL normally visits orphanage homes to donate food and other times they give out clothes and other essential needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the festive holidays this is a time whereby children with no parents feel very lonely and as ETL staff, we visit orphanage homes to give out food parcels, cook and play with them for the entire day,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Masoabi further said this past year due to the current global health crisis, they were not able to visit any home to do what they normally do each December.<\/p>\n

She added that they postponed the charity work to 2021 with the hope that this year will get better but unfortunately it did not, so they then decided to just hand over the grocery to the homes without their normal celebration.<\/p>\n

She further said with the charity work that ETL has done for years, the intention has always been to extend a helping hand to communities. She said charity work is very necessary especially during this difficult times of Covid-19 which has complicated lives as people lost their jobs and businesses.<\/p>\n

She pleaded with other companies that are privileged to function during this time to donate to vulnerable people. Ministry of Hope Orphanage Home Founder \u2018Mamonyane Mohale explained that the home was founded in 2009 with the aim of looking after vulnerable children.<\/p>\n

She said the home takes care of 25 children currently from new born babies to 10 year olds. Mohale said they are very grateful for the donations from ETL as the grocery is going to make a great difference in the home.<\/p>\n

\u201cEver since Covid-19 started in our country we have received many donation which include these food parcels from ETL,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She furthered that for the past years during the month of January when schools open, they struggled a lot with children\u2019s school essentials like food. Mohale said they wish they can continue to receive more donations even after Covid-19.<\/p>\n
