Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The people of Ha-Ntlama in Berea district have joined forces to bring about a solution to the water shortage problem facing their area. Residents in the area have raised money to buy shotguns to help them regain water as there is no life without water.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Local Government Nominee in Tebe-Tebe Local Government Council Ms Tsebo Rampo explained that the water shortage problem was long-term but did not find a lasting solution even though they visited the relevant departments. frequently but without immediate assistance.<\/p>\n

Rampo said that in 2014 the Durhum Link Center extended its hand to get water out of those villages, pointing out that in his village the use of solar panels and diesel fuel to raise water and when a community has a budget deficit it becomes difficult for water to reach the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to overcome this seemingly escalating problem, we natives of Ha-Ntlama came together to raise money to buy a cable for the machine to raise water, we took this problem to those involved but it took them a long time to respond.<\/p>\n

We received a cable for M2000 but the rural water supply estimate was M10,000, \u201dhe said. King of Ha-Ntlama King Sanaha \u2018Mota in his defense said there were water problems but a section of the community was stealing tablets to help lift water from tanks.<\/p>\n

He said however he was grateful for the efforts of the people of Ha-Ntlama who came together to solve the water problem they were facing. \u2018Mota said there is also a problem with the two collapsed bridges and bad roads that make it difficult to connect with the surrounding villages.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy community finds it difficult to meet their daily needs, including going to hospitals, churches, shops and even school children who end up not going to school at all when it rains because it fills the rivers and it endangers public health, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

One of the residents, Ms Matatolo Ramat\u0161ella, said in a statement that they were suffering from severe water shortages during the rainy season, which was due to the use of solar panels which could not raise water properly in adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Ramatsella pointed out that water is only available for a week in different villages and thus puts the community at risk of running out of water which is a daily necessity for sustaining life.<\/p>\n
