Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The people of Qacha\u2019s Nek Thabaneng Liphakoeng are lamenting the famine they are facing as a result of the restriction of movement. In an interview with Voice of the Nation King Thabaneng Liphakoeng King Thembeni Mofempeni said that the high rate of Corona virus in the country has been a major concern for his people as they are mostly reformers.<\/p>\n

He said restricting the movement and preventing smokers from continuing in business would increase the need for food in their homes. The referee explained that job demand was already at its peak, and this made it difficult to meet some of our daily needs.<\/p>\n

“This will also increase crime in this area as well as the country as a whole,” King explained. He also pointed out that the environment faces a number of challenges that hinder development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are also no improvements in the area as grassroots and agroforestry activities have been out of order for two years and this has left people living in poverty to the point where they are unable to feed themselves.<\/p>\n

among their families, \u201dMofempeni said. He said the community had learned of the ban on the movement last year in March which had left many families without food.<\/p>\n

Continuing, Mofempeni explained that his community is undertaking a number of projects to alleviate poverty but since Covid-19’s arrival all of them have been hampered by the financial crisis caused by unemployment.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out that there was a shortage of water, saying that the need for money was a barrier to finding solutions to these problems as they had long since referred the water crisis to the relevant departments.<\/p>\n

Local Government Nominee in the Ntsupe Local Government Council Mr Sello Hlephe said the ban on movement made it difficult for protesters to spend their business money because they did not have enough to eat at home.<\/p>\n

it is difficult for them to get back into business. \u201cI appeal to those responsible for helping to meet the needy at this time because they are the most vulnerable of all people as this is what is eaten in their homes.<\/p>\n

The government should not restrict the movement because it does not bring a solution but the people are starving. It is important for the government to provide the public with protection against Covid-19, so that people can continue their livelihoods to overcome hunger, \u201dhe advised.<\/p>\n
