Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) instructed all Vodacom Premier League (VPL) teams to undergo Covid-19 testing before the next round of matches following the letter that was sent by Linare management to the Premier League<\/p>\n

Committee Management (PLMC) about their team members who tested positive for Covid-19. Resultant to the surge of Covid-19 infections across the country, the LeFA also postponed several games of the Premier League matches<\/p>\n

this past weekend. The log leaders, Matlama was scheduled to play against Kick4life and Mazenod Swallows against Lijabatho; all these matches where postponed<\/p>\n

following the fact that Kick4life and Swallows recently encountered with Linare which had four of its members testing positive for Covid-19. PLMC Public Relations Officer, Qamako Mahao reflected in an<\/p>\n

interview with Informative Sport that, \u201cYou will recall that earlier in the season when the Premier league matches resumed, the teams were requested to<\/p>\n

partner with the local medical facilities during these reigning health conditions and all the teams were required to run Covid-19 tests and submit the<\/p>\n

confidential medical report to LeFA, for it to assess the health situation with football fraternity and plot a way forward. The teams that have so far handed in their<\/p>\n

results are Linare and Manonyane, the later has one player who tested positive on Monday. We are working very hard to monitor this ongoing situation as to prevent<\/p>\n

further spread of the virus. We kindly ask for our teams to abide by all Covid-19 precautionary measures for the relief of football sport. \u201d In an exclusive interview with Linare Secretary General (SG)<\/p>\n

Moeketsi Rampai, he confirmed that the club has four members who tested positive for Covid-19. \u201cThe first case was discovered within our technical team,<\/p>\n

the subject tested positive last week Thursday at Maseru border post and that urged the team to undertake further tests for each individual at Motebang<\/p>\n

hospital. 26 members of the team were tested for Covid-19 and the three more players were found positive,\u201d Rampai said. Linare SG further mentioned that this pandemic has affected<\/p>\n

the whole team negatively as their plans for the second round will have to be put on hold. He added that they are working hand in hand with the management committee and Linare technical team to offer support to their members who have been infected and wished them a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n
