Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Defence Force Rugby team (Liqhomane) brutally thrashed Mabote Beavers (27-0) in an Econet Rugby League (ERL) match at Mabote rugby ground on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Liqhomane was hosted by Mabote Beavers and the team has so far remained on top of the ERL table after winning all its two matches in the second league.<\/p>\n

Liqhomane\u2019s upcoming match will be against Maseru Warriors, the team that has nevermore played any match of the second league. Their first game was supposed to be against NUL Spears which failed to honour the fixture<\/p>\n

as some of its players did not show up for the game, and therefore Maseru Warriors was awarded 5 points and 28 goals. Maseru Warriors are the defending Champions of the ERL and still has a<\/p>\n

game in hand. Warriors still maintained position 2 on the ERL while NUL Spears stand at the bottom of the league table after losing all its matches Speaking in an interview with Informative Sport, Maseru<\/p>\n

Warriors Head Coach Morapeli Motaung mentioned that he is disappointed that NUL Spears did not show up on the first match of the second round. He said their<\/p>\n

match against NUL Spears was aimed for the preparation of the upcoming big match where they will be playing against Liqhomane which is constantly winning<\/p>\n

its matches. \u201cThe match between Maseru Warriors and Liqhomane is one of the most vigorous matches in the ERL as Liqhomane consist of skilful individuals that<\/p>\n

have good catch and great ball forwarders and we also have those great rugby stars on our team. We are the defending champions while Liqhomane are leading<\/p>\n

the league so this reflect how extensive this game will be even though my players did not get enough match fitness because we have not played any match in<\/p>\n

this second round,\u201d said Motaung. Motaung articulated that as to improve the standard of rugby in the country there must be more rugby development academies that focus more<\/p>\n

on improving the skills of children from a very young age, he said that will increase the number of teams that participate in the ERL as there are only five<\/p>\n

teams in the country that compete for the ERL due to lack of sponsors and reliable players as most of them are occupied by academic and work related issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe played very well today but as a coach I am not that much satisfied by the performance despite our win of 27-0 against Mabote Beavers.<\/p>\n

Mabote Beavers was more stable in terms of defence as they did not allow us to break through and that influenced us not to have too many tries as we used to<\/p>\n

have in the previous matches. My team is more than prepared to win this upcoming match against Maseru Warriors. Our objective for this season is to win the ERL championship title,\u201d explained Liqhomane head coach Motheo Mokhothu in an interview with Informative Sport.<\/p>\n
