Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>The local drama series, Bophelo has introduced the second season following the first that got viewers hooked to their television screens. Making the first soapie of its kind in the country, Bophelo is a drama series that<\/p>\n

brings about the daily occurrences of life, but it is specifically about family and inheritance. The series is created by Dr. Paul Banda Luanga Jr who is also the<\/p>\n

Creator, Director and Executive producer of the drama. Dr. Luanga revealed to Informative Arts&Lifestyle that the series has been doing very well abroad and in Lesotho.<\/p>\n

He said they were very shocked when they went to Mohale\u2019s Hoek and found that people know everything about Bophelo, saying it is far encouraging. \u201cThis is very inspiring, we also have fans in SADC<\/p>\n

[Southern African Development Community] regions, as people watch it around the<\/p>\n

world because we broadcast on our social media platforms,\u201d he said. He said the second season is about family drama, conspiracies, family enormities, domestic violence and other social issues.<\/p>\n

He added that it depict the daily incidents hence the name Bophelo. \u201cI created this idea because it comes from a true story where families usually fight over inheritances, these fights often result<\/p>\n

into unending drama, calling for continuation of the series,\u201d he said. Luanga further revealed that they are challenged by sponsorships. He, however expressed an outstanding gratitude to Econet Telecom Lesotho, saying it stood<\/p>\n

by them through thick and thin. \u201cThey believed in us and we have been representing them quite well. They have continued supporting us from season one to season<\/p>\n

two and hopefully as we go on. A lot of other sponsors would have dropped out or not be consistence, given the hiccups we had on the way,\u201d he said. Luanga noted.<\/p>\n

For the trial, he emphasised that they have achieved a lot, informing that they have employed 250 people inclusive of extras, permanent actors, and people<\/p>\n

behind the scenes, camera men, editors, producers and writers. He noted that they are supplementing the Government\u2019s efforts of creating employment. Luanga<\/p>\n

added that the series has brought a lot of opportunities for Basotho graduates from universities like the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT).<\/p>\n

He said; \u201cSome have even came in to train as interns and young film makers are coming in to learn\u201d. The first episode of the second season of the drama series was aired on Lesotho Television last week Wednesday.<\/p>\n
