Africa-Press – Lesotho. <\/strong><\/span>Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) handed over training equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to SOS Children\u2019s Village. These were sanitizers and masks as<\/p>\n

safety measures against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, six balls and six computers. According to LeFA Information and Media Officer Mikia Kalati, the computers<\/p>\n

will improve children\u2019s personal skills and help them on academic related issues, enabling them to watch educational programmes. Kalati stated that the computers are to<\/p>\n

also motivate children because they will watch soccer online and even stream different soccer videos. \u201cThey will also assist in administrative work because<\/p>\n

valuable information will be stored and shared easily, this means that communication will be more effective,\u201d Kalati said. He said he hopes the computers will make life better for everyone in the organisation.<\/p>\n

LeFA also held a Grassroots Festival for boys and girls aged 6-12 years. \u201cChildren aged 5-12 years should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity of physical activity<\/p>\n

every day, so soccer is one of the sports that keep children physically fit. In addition, physical activities like playing soccer have numerous benefits on<\/p>\n

children\u2019s bodies, some of these benefits include increased listening skills. Playing soccer makes children\u2019s bones strong and decreases risks of obesity, giving<\/p>\n

them better coordination and balance,\u201d he informed. Kalati further indicated that the Grassroots Festival is aimed to increase and enhance interest of<\/p>\n

children to engage in sports at very young age. LeFA offered other training equipment to SOS Children\u2019s Village in order to improve the standard of football in the<\/p>\n

country. \u201cLeFA believes that having football developments and soccer academies that groom children from a very young age will lead to better standard and performance<\/p>\n

of our local and national teams,\u201d he said. He said this is not the first time they visit SOS Children\u2019s Village. \u201cSOS Children\u2019s Village is so far represented in the national team under 20 where we have a midfielder Nyakalo Taole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
