Africa-Press – Liberia. Liberia senior national team will play three international friendly matches in Antalya, Turkey next week, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has announced.
The friendlies are part of Liberia’s and other African countries’ preparations for the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers. Liberia will take on Benin on March 24, Sierra Leone on March 27, and Burundi on March 29.
African countries usually make use of the FIFA international window to arrange with sporting agencies recognized by FIFA in the Turkish City of Antalya to hold training camps in preparation for major future tournaments. Ahead of the team’s departure, this weekend, Liberia head coach Peter Butler has called up 23 players for the three friendlies.
Among the 23 players are new entries Mohamed Cherif Diallo who plays in the Italian Serie D and local-based players Junior Yeanay, Allenton Sembeh, Frank Allison, Emmanuel Reyah, Divine Roosevelt Teah, and Prince Zawoh. United States-based Joel Johnson and England-based Mohammed Sangare returned to the squad after missing the team’s previous engagements due to injury.
Goalkeepers: Allenton Sembeh (Bea Mountain), Junior Yeanay (Nimba Kwado) and Derrick Julu (Watanga FC).
Defenders: Jamal Arago (Sabail, Azerbaijan), Mark Pabai (SPAL, Italy), Prince Balde (Drita, Kosovo), Sampson Dweh (LPRC Oilers), Joel Johnson (Hartford Athletic, United States of America) and Emmanuel Reyah (Muscat FC).
Midfielders: Abrahim Mohammed Soumaoro (PAEEK FC, Cyprus), Moussa Sanoh (Mioveni, Romania), Seth Kanteh Hellberg (IK Brage, Sweden), Oscar Murphy Dorley (Slavia Prague, Czech Republic), Allen Njie (FC Aarau, Switzerland), Mohammed Sangare (Newcastle United under-23, England) and Frank Allison (Freeport FC).
Forwards: Justin Paul Salmon (Degerfors IF, Sweden), Mohamed Cherif Diallo (Derthona, Italy), Kpah Sherman (Terengganu, Malaysia), Peter Wilson (Olympiakos Nicosia, Cyprus), Ayouba Kosiah (NAC Breda, Netherlands), Divine Roosevelt Teah (Nimba FC) and Prince Zawoh (Nimba United).
