Africa-Press – Liberia. Reigning women’s division champions Determine Girls are looking to end the 2021/22 league season with a double after securing an advantage in the first-leg of the Women’s PetroTrade Cup semifinals.

A double brace from Paulinho Agbotsu, a brace from Bountou Sylla and a lone goal from Kantie Sayee saw Determine Girls trashed Sr Female Professionals 7-0 at the SKD Practice Pitch in Paynesville.

The match kicked-off with a competitive rhythm, which saw Sr Female Pro, a lower league side, keeping Determine Girls’ defense on their back-foot, but couldn’t convert their chances to get a curtain raiser.

Sr. Pro’s pressure could not continue after the first quarter. Determine Girls took full control as the match became like a shooting practice.

With such a result from the first-leg, Sr. Female Pro, last season’s finalists, will now need something special to overturn the result in the second-leg in their fight to progress to the final.

Wednesday’s match was a farewell match for forward Agbotsu, who departed Liberia early Thursday for Kazakhstan to complete her move to FC Okzhetpes.

Determine Girls are three points away from retaining the league title and comfortably sailing through to the Final of the PetroTrade Cup.

In the other semifinals match, Ambassadors FC also secured an early advantage with a 2-1 win against Soccer Ambassadors.

The second-leg is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23.
