Africa-Press – Liberia. Several residents of Montserrado County District Number Six, have benefited from the distribution of assorted food items, being distributed by the lawmaker of that constituency, Representative Samuel Enders.
The assorted food items which include several bags of rice, argon oil, and cooking cubes, were given to the underprivileged, widows, and people living in slum communities in the district, in observance of the Christmas festival.
The distribution covered the seven zones across the district, with over 1,500 (Thousand Five Hundred) homes benefitting from the Christmas gesture.
Communities affected by distribution include SD Cooper Road, King Gray, Nagbe’s Town, Gbengba Town, Thinker Village, Acre of Hope school Rockhill, R2 Vai town, ELWA Duakai Community, ELWA Zowolor, Antioch Baptist Community and Cartoon Camp TB annex.
According to the Resource Officer in the office of Representative Enders and Chairperson on Social Welfare in the District Office, Yenor Kamara, the gesture is Representative Enders’ way of identifying with the less fortunate, widows, and people residing in the district.
Madam Kamara added, that it was important to distribute the assorted food items and that members of the Lawmaker’s office will have the opportunity to create awareness of Christmas parties for kids across seven venues.
She put the cost of the items at US$ 10,000, (US Ten Thousand), including 300 bags of rice, 200 gallon of argo-oil, and 350 cartons of cubes.
“A single man who has more things to do has single-handed checked his pocket to identify with the needed, vulnerable women and children of District Six who cannot afford and people who lived in zinc houses.
This is something that should be cherished,” Madam Kamara said.
Marking brief remarks, the District Coordinator, Joseph Miller noted that despite difficulties being experienced during the Christmas period, Representative Enders sees it prudent to identify with his constituent.
He said that the District Six Lawmaker is always encouraged to provide humanitarian gesture to their people.
Also Speaking, Queta Sumo, a widow of six children, lauded Representative Enders for identifying with them.
Madam Sumo, however, appealed for educational assistance for her three children who she said, are out of school due to a lack of tuition.
At the same time, Yassah Sackie, a mother of three children, also praised Representative Enders for his continuous contribution to the Carton Camp Community.
She however said that all of her children are out of school and wants the District Six Lawmaker to help send the children to school.
