Liberia: Ballout rallies Maryland for Boakai Ahead of October 10 Polls

Africa-Press – Liberia. Former Maryland County Senator, John A. Ballout, has urged his kinsmen to vote for the presidential candidate of the Unity Party, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who he said has the requisite credentials to move the country in the right direction.

Ballout said Liberia has suffered immensely under the George Weah-led government, especially given the increase in drug abuse and trafficking, extra-judicial killings, massive corruption, ritualistic killings and others, he pointed out, are reasons why the CDC government needs to be replaced come October 10.

The former Unity Party Senator is currently touring the southeastern region along with the vice standard bearer of the former ruling party, Senator Jeremiah Kpan Koung, and current Maryland County Senator, James Biney. “We want to deliver Maryland to the Rescue Mission,” Ballout said over the weekend upon arriving in Maryland. “Our mission is to see and to ensure that you reject President Weah and replace him with Ambassador Boakai, a visionary leader, at the October 10 elections.”

He reminded his kinsmen that during the 12-year reign of the UP, civil servants were paid on time, hospitals had supplies of medicine, electricity, roads were built, secondary schools and University and community colleges were funded, among many other developmental initiatives.

“This CDC-led government came and destroyed everything, now civil servants are underpaid, their money has been cut down, the roads are bad, hospitals and Schools are underfunded, and increase in illicit drugs, something that has made Liberia retrogress instead of progressing,” he said.

“At the same time,” Ballout noted, “besides the tangibles that were brought to Maryland during the UP regime, this government has nothing to point at in the county.”

He has accused the government of endorsing (gay rights) same-sex marriage and planning to legalize abortion.

“We have come to rally to let you know that President Weah and his government need to be rejected at the polls, any attempt to reelect this government, and to vote Ambassador Boakai to get the country on the right path”.

Ambassador Ballout further noted that the Unity Party-led government for the past 12 years has done some much for Liberia in that Liberia regained its international status, ensuring that debts owed by Liberia were waived, and building the security, education, and health sectors.

Meanwhile, Ballout said that the government has done nothing enough to be given a second term, we as Marylanders must ensure that they are defeated come October 10, 2023, in the legislative and presidential elections.

“You are a witness of what is going on in the country,” Ballout cried. “Massive corruption, an increase of drugs, the youthful generation’s future is in limbo. They are the next leaders of this country, how can they realize such a bright future they anticipate if there are obstacles that are hindering them; Join us your sons in rescuing this country.”

The Maryland former Senator disclosed that every fabric of the Liberian society that was built after the war has been broken down by the corrupt government, civil servants are no longer getting paid on time, and there are constant protests at state-ruined universities.

“Given this government, a second term will diminish Liberia, and crimes and corruption will be on the increase that it is today, Liberia is going to retrogress in terms of development and we will be left in a state of dilemma.

The Liberian former diplomat explained that it is regrettable that we have to pass through the Ivory Coast to access our counties in the southeast, this has never happened in this country but due to the government’s inability to maintain the roads led us to use the Ivorian side.

This a time for ushering in a change, and Ambassador Boakai is that change, he stands to rescue this country from all the madness that we are engulfed with as a nation.

With just 10 days to the conduct of the legislative and Presidential elections, rescue 2 Jeremiah Kpan Koung and other sons of Maryland county are vigorously campaigning in the southeast to ensure a victory for the main opposition Unity Party on October 10, 2023.
