Africa-Press – Liberia. The Speaker of the House of Representatives Bhofal Chambers has called on members of the legislature to put the interest of Liberia first and above all others as the body begins the Fifth Sitting of the National Legislature on Monday.
He said the Legislature must work collectively to erect perceptible and durable platforms of constructive aspirations, genuine hope, tangible possibilities and realistic optimism.
“We are under obligation to initiate this task for this generation and the next. With such cause in mind, I am of the strongest conviction that you, my esteemed Lawmakers, will become modern architects of the Nation’s transformative agenda”, Speaker Chambers said.
At the inception of his message, Speaker Chambers recognized and applauded his colleagues for the overwhelming support he received from them during their last sitting which he said represents the best interest of the Country and its People, despite the many political linkages and persuasions.
He added: “You will all be remembered as exemplary national assets for you have demonstrated to be desirable role-models. Let us continue in this direction for an upward growth and a deeper concretization of our democracy.”
According to him, the Legislature intends to be more focused and is now fully prepared to constructively work with all international parliamentary bodies including the ECOWAS and European during this 2022 and beyond in order to serve the cause of our human existence.
He pleaded with his colleagues to endeavor and to ensure that those significant ‘human-sensitive legislations in committee rooms or laws yet to be passed are fast-tracked.
Speaker Chambers also pledged to maintain the spirit of cooperation, collaboration and coordination with the other two branches of Government for a stable, peaceful, prosperous, just and safe Liberian society, where the rights and responsibilities of all are properly balanced.
The House Speaker at the same time, assured various constituencies of a better Legislature in 2022 as their trusted deputies or representatives and promised that the body will do its utmost best to ensure that Liberia is positively transformed into an oasis of hope and palpable optimism.
