Africa-Press – Liberia. Bea Mountain Football Club have announced the appointment of veteran Liberian coach Cooper Sannah as its new head coach on a two-year deal, signaling the club’s most ambitious move yet in pursuit of its first-ever league and Orange Cup titles.
The Cape Mount-based First Division side, popularly known as “The Gold Boys,” confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. The contract will run from 2025 to 2027.
In a statement issued by the club, officials said, “We are pleased to announce Coach Cooper Sannah as the new Head Coach of Bea Mountain Football Club for the period of two seasons (2025–2027).”
Sannah is widely regarded as one of Liberia’s most accomplished coaches. He currently serves as the head coach of Liberia’s U-20 national team and is a former deputy coach of the senior Lone Star squad.
His coaching resume includes successful stints at top Liberian clubs such as LISCR FC, LPRC Oilers, Watanga FC, and Barrack Young Controllers (BYC FC), with whom he won four Liberian Premier League titles, four Super Cup trophies, one President Cup, and the “Who Owns the Land” tournament.
One of his most memorable achievements came in 2017 when he led BYC FC to eliminate Malian giants Stade Malien from the CAF Champions League, nearly reaching the group stage before a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Mozambique’s Ferroviário da Beira. Reflecting on that historic match, Sannah told FrontPage Africa, “That moment with BYC in the Champions League was special. It showed that Liberian clubs can compete beyond our borders if we prepare well and believe. That’s the mindset I’m bringing to Bea Mountain.”
Sources within Bea Mountain say Sannah’s appointment is central to the club’s long-term plan to cement its status as a major force in Liberian football. Club President Ben Davies described the move as a calculated step forward, saying,
“This is a timely and strategic appointment. Coach Sannah has proven he can manage pressure and deliver results. We are confident that under his leadership, Bea Mountain will take the next big step.”
The club had a strong 2024 campaign but failed to win any silverware. With Sannah now at the helm, the focus shifts to a serious title challenge in both the LFA First Division and the Orange Cup. Known for his organized, high-press style and commitment to youth development, Sannah said preparations would begin immediately. “My goal is to build a balanced team that can dominate possession but also be ruthless in front of goal,” he said. “We’ll be looking at squad depth, fitness, and tactics from day one.”
The announcement has energized fans across Grand Cape Mount County, especially in Kinjor where the team is based. Supporters see Sannah’s arrival as a turning point in the club’s pursuit of silverware.
“We have been close so many times,” said Varney Kamara, a longtime fan. “With Coach Sannah coming in, we finally believe this could be our time.”
As the 2025 LFA season approaches, expectations are high for Cooper Sannah, Liberia’s most decorated coach in recent years, who now takes charge of one of the country’s most ambitious clubs. His challenge is clear: to deliver titles, build a legacy, and lead Bea Mountain into what many hope will be a golden era for football in Cape Mount.
