Fassell FC Boosts Training and Adds Five Foreign Players

Africa-Press – Liberia. Reigning Liberian Champions Fassell FC have ramped up preparations ahead of the highly anticipated CAF Champions League draw, launching intensive training sessions aimed at sharpening the team’s fitness, tactical awareness, and cohesion.

With continental competition just around the corner, the squad has been hard at work under new head coach Amir Alagic, a seasoned Australian-Bosnian Coach and UEFA Pro License Holder, following the departure of Belgian Ivan Minnaert at the end of last season.

Amira, Australian-Bosnia tactician with a track record across West Africa, is leading the charge as the club looks to defend its domestic title and make a serious statement in Africa.

Double Duty: League Defense and Continental Ambition

Fassell’s CAF Champions League appearance marks a significant milestone not only for the club, but for Liberian football at large. With that pressure comes the need to build depth and experience, something the club addressed with a bold off-season recruitment drive.

As part of their build-up, Fassell completed the signing of five foreign players, each bringing a wealth of experience from different corners of the continent. The newcomers have already joined full training and are reportedly adapting quickly to the team’s style and intensity.

Meet Fassell’s New International Recruits
Ibrahim Coulibaly (Ivory Coast) – Goalkeeper

Known for his commanding presence and quick reflexes, the Ivorian keeper has already impressed teammates with his vocal leadership during training drills. Coulibaly is expected to bring stability between the posts, especially in pressure-filled away matches in the CAF Champions League.

Louis Jatta (Gambia) – Central Defender

Strong in tackles and disciplined in his positioning, Jatta’s addition is seen as a major boost to Fassell’s central defense. His physical presence was evident during the first full-contact session last weekend.

Ayoub Al Kouaye (Morocco) – Right Back

Pacy, technical, and confident in overlapping runs, Al Kouaye has given fans plenty to cheer about during open sessions. His energy down the right flank is expected to be a key asset in Fassell’s transitional play.

Abdoulaye Sy (Senegal) – Midfielder

Sy, the midfield controller, has shown great composure on the ball and an eye for long-range passes. CoachAmir praised his “football intelligence” and expects him to be the link between defense and attack.

Ndene Cisse (Senegal) – Midfielder/Winger/Striker

Cisse has already emerged as one of the standout performers in training. His ability to play multiple attacking roles gives Fassell flexibility, and his direct style has earned him early comparisons to some of the league’s top forwards.

“These are not just names—they are players brought in to solve specific tactical needs,” said assistant coach Mathew Julutweh. “Our training is tailored to integrate them quickly, and so far, they’ve responded well.”

High-Intensity Sessions Draw Attention

Fassell’s training camp has become a spectacle in itself, with fans turning out in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the new-look squad. Once-a-day sessions feature tactical drills, high-tempo scrimmages, and conditioning exercises all designed to raise the team’s performance level to continental standards.
