Africa-Press – Liberia. The European Union in partnership with the Government of Liberia, will on Thursday, August 21, host an intensive media engagement in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

According to a relase, the session will bring together 24 journalists from Buchanan, Greenville, and Barclayville to highlight progress, milestones, and anticipated impacts of the Light Up South-East Liberia (LUSE) program—a transformative energy initiative aimed at improving electricity access across Southeastern Liberia.

Organized by In Profile Daily, Inc. (IPD), the engagement will brief journalists on program status, implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes, strengthen collaboration among implementing partners, oversight bodies, and media outlets; and rovide a platform for dialogue, questions, and clarifications on the program’s scope, impact, and future plans.

Participants will include journalists from Grand Bassa, Sinoe, and Grand Kru Counties, representatives from the EU Delegation to Liberia, the Ministry of Finance & Development Planning (MFDP) / National Authorizing Office (NAO), the Rural Renewable Energy Agency (RREA), the Office of the Superintendent of Grand Bassa County, IPD (as Communication & Visibility Lead), and contractors MBH Power Nigeria Ltd, Constar, COLENCO, and ASACO.

The release further notes that the engagement will feature moderated Q&A sessions and roundtable discussions to encourage interactive dialogue, enhance understanding of program implementation, and strengthen media partnerships. Participants are expected to arrive on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with departures for non-local attendees scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2025.

This initiative underscores the EU and the Government of Liberia’s shared commitment to transparency, stakeholder collaboration, and effective communication, ensuring that the Light Up South-East Liberia program delivers measurable socio-economic benefits and expanded electricity access to the three targeted cities in Southeastern Liberia, the release concluded.
