Africa-Press – Liberia. A twelve-member delegation of Liberian health professionals has departed Monrovia for Chengdu, China, to participate in a Regional Healthcare and Medical Standardization Seminar for English-speaking African Countries.

The seminar, running from September 10–23, 2025, will bring together representatives from across Africa alongside Chinese experts to strengthen healthcare delivery and promote medical standardization.

Liberia’s delegation includes senior managers from the Ministry of Health, officials of the National Food Authority, County Health Officers from Gbarpolu, Bomi, Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, and Rivercess Counties, as well as the Medical Director of F.J. Grante Hospital in Sinoe County.

While in Chengdu, participants will engage in lectures, technical exchanges, and collaborative discussions. They will also embark on field visits to hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and factories in Beijing and Shanghai to gain practical insights into China’s healthcare and pharmaceutical systems.

The event is organized by the Chengdu Institute of Standardization with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, reflecting Beijing’s continued partnership with Liberia’s health sector.

Liberia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, welcomed the initiative and praised China for what she described as “unwavering support.”

“China has stood with Liberia in critical moments, whether through the donation of medical supplies, the deployment of experts, or capacity-building opportunities for our professionals,” Dr. Kpoto said. “We see this training as another milestone in deepening cooperation and enhancing our capacity to serve the Liberian people.”
