Africa-Press – Liberia. The Ansu FC Football Academy (AFA), located in Browerville, Montserrado County, has recruited more athletes, aged 12 to 15, for its youth training program.
The new recruits will undergo a five-year training and education program.
Ansumana Wiles, the academy’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), stated that 25 youths have been selected to begin the program.
Wiles explained that the academy’s mission is not only to provide football training but also to ensure the athletes are committed to their academic education.
The long-term goal is to prepare players to join Liberia’s top first and second-division clubs by the time they reach 18 to 20 years old.
Wiles founded the academy in 2012 to guide passionate young footballers toward structured training and education.
The program has helped many youths avoid community distractions and has already produced several athletes now playing in Liberia’s top divisions.
The academy currently operates two teams. Its senior side is a third-division club registered with the Liberia Football Association (LFA).
Wiles noted that the team is preparing for the upcoming 2025/2026 LFA national league season and expressed confidence in their readiness.
“Our senior team is entering its third year in the LFA third division,” Wiles said. “We have already started training for the new season, and I have made it clear to our head coach, Ambale Zogbo, that the players’ discipline and deportment must always meet the standards of the game. This is important for their personal growth and the progress of Ansu FC.”
Wiles also commended his technical staff for their role in shaping the athletes.
He urged them to continue instilling discipline, commitment, and professionalism as the academy tries to build the next generation of Liberian footballers.
