Africa-Press – Liberia. The long-awaited Margibi County Inter-Electoral District League made a vibrant return over the weekend after a two-year break, reigniting excitement and community pride in both football and kickball at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

The county’s most prestigious sporting festival drew hundreds of spectators on Saturday, October 25, 2025, as eight districts began their quest for glory in what promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet.

In the opening kickball fixture, District #3 and District #4 battled to a homeless draw after five innings.

Both sides displayed solid defensive organization and sharp reflexes, thrilling fans despite the absence of a breakthrough. Each team walked away with a point and a clean sheet.

The spotlight then shifted to the football showdown, where defending champions District #3 edged District #4 1–0 in a tense and hard-fought encounter.

A late second-half strike from Berbatov Enders proved decisive, earning District #3 all three points and a perfect start to their title defense.

District #4 controlled much of the possession and carved out several scoring chances, but the resolute backline of District #3 backed by strong team discipline held firm until the final whistle.

The victory sends a strong message from District #3, who are eyeing a fourth consecutive football title under the leadership of Hon. Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh. For District #4, the narrow defeat was a bitter one, especially in front of their home crowd and Chief Patron of Sports, Hon. Emmanuel Yarh.

Tournament Overview

This year’s tournament marks the first time eight districts are participating since its inception. In the last edition, District #1 captured the kickball crown, while District #3 made history by winning their third straight football title, becoming the first district to do so.

After the opening matches, District #3 lead Group A in football with three points, while in kickball, Districts #3 and #4 share the top spot with one point apiece.
