Africa-Press – Liberia. Presenting the supplies to the students and faculty of the elementary division of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, Mandell praised the school for producing graduates that have gone on to hold important positions in the government of Liberia.
Mr. Mandell made the donation of pens, pencils, erasers, rules, writing pads, and other items while on a visit to Liberia to mark the first-year anniversary of the Liberia School of Law (LSL), which opened its doors on November 4, 2024 as the second law school in Liberia.
Presenting the supplies to the students and faculty of the elementary division of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, Mandell praised the school for producing graduates that have gone on to hold important positions in the government of Liberia. In particular, Mandell pointed to Retired Chief Justice Francis Korkpor as an example of St. Mary’s graduates who have served Liberia, and called on the students to follow in Korkpor’s footstep of national service.
Mandell, a graduate of Yale Law School in the United States, has been a strong and generous supporter of the Liberia School of Law.
Korkpor, who serves along with Mandell on the LSL Board of Trustees as Chairman, said the donated supplies will go a long way in helping the students improve and maintain their academic performance. He extended his “sincere appreciation” to Mandell on behalf of the school and all its alumni.
The Principal of St. Mary’s Jericho Dorwazia also thanked Mandell for his generosity.
Mandell, a graduate of Yale Law School in the United States, has been a strong and generous supporter of the Liberia School of Law. He is a previous Chairman of the Yale Law School Fund Board, which is responsible for raising funds for the School. While at Yale, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law and Policy Review. He is a colleague of LSL President Kwame Clement, with whom he practiced antitrust law in the United States at the major Washington, DC based law firm of Arnold and Porter.

While in Liberia, Mandell met with the members of the LSL Law Review. Drawing on his experience as Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law and Policy Review, he briefed the students on what being on a law review entails, and how to ensure that the LSL Law Review promotes first rate legal scholarship.
