Africa-Press – Liberia. Liberia stands to gain significantly from China’s global cooperation initiatives, including the 15th Five-Year Plan, the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, and the country’s commitment to multilateral engagement, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, has emphasized.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Chinese Embassy in Congo Town on Wednesday, November 26, Ambassador Yin outlined China’s strategic vision and its potential impact on Liberia’s development.

“What do the 20th CPC Central Committee’s Fourth Plenary Session and China’s 15th Five-Year Plan mean for Liberia? I would say they mean opportunity,” Ambassador Yin said.

He highlighted that China’s Five-Year Plans, now in their 15th iteration, have transformed the country into the world’s second-largest economy and largest manufacturing hub, providing a model for development that Liberia and other developing nations can learn from.

According to Ambassador Yin, China’s ongoing modernization and high-level opening-up policies under the 15th Five-Year Plan present concrete opportunities for Liberia.

He noted that Liberia is already benefiting from China’s Least Developed Countries zero-tariff policy, which has expanded the country’s rubber exports, and from economic and technical cooperation agreements that support mutually agreed development projects.

“China’s high-standard opening-up ensures that Liberia, as a member of the Global South, can actively participate in global trade, investment, and industrial development. Platforms like the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Canton Fair offer Liberian businesses the chance to broaden their market access and international recognition,” he said.

Ambassador Yin also highlighted China’s commitment to gender equality through initiatives such as the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women held in Beijing on October 13–14, 2025.

The event, which was attended by Liberian Senate President Pro Tempore Hon. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, reinforced global commitments to women’s empowerment.

China has pledged to donate $10 million to UN Women, launch 1,000 livelihood programs prioritizing women and girls, invite 50,000 women for training and exchange programs, and establish a Global Center for Women’s Capacity Building.

“These initiatives are not just about development—they are about inclusivity, equality, and shared progress,” Ambassador Yin said, underscoring the potential impact for Liberia’s women and youth.

On the sensitive issue of Taiwan, Ambassador Yin reaffirmed China’s position that Taiwan is an inalienable part of its territory. He praised Liberia for being among the first countries in the world to affirm its commitment to the one-China principle through domestic legislation and reiterated China’s appreciation for Liberia’s support at the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Ambassador Yin also discussed China’s broader global governance initiatives, including the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), which promotes sovereign equality, multilateralism, people-centered outcomes, and pragmatic, results-driven global governance. “China stands ready to work hand in hand with Liberia and the international community to implement these initiatives and build a community with a shared future for mankind,” he said.

Ambassador Yin concluded by emphasizing the historic and ongoing opportunities for Liberia to leverage China’s development experience and global cooperation frameworks. “Liberia can benefit from China’s economic growth, technical cooperation, inclusive development policies, and global initiatives that foster shared prosperity,” he said.
